Can FireDeck fill out the Fire-Lite or Silent Knight battery calc worksheet my AHJ asks for?

Yes. Every generated submittal has a Mfg Calc dropdown on the Past Submittals card offering the Fire-Lite, Notifier, Silent Knight, and Potter versions of the battery calculation in that manufacturer's own workbook format.

Do I have to download cut sheets from the manufacturer sites myself?

No. Auto-Fetch pulls datasheets from the manufacturers' own sites for every device with a known URL, and it runs automatically when you generate a submittal. Anything it can't find you can upload on the Cut Sheets tab or import from the shared library; a model left marked Missing simply has no datasheet pages in the PDF.

Can I leave the voltage drop section out or add a section of my own?

Both, under Customize Sections. Untick any of the five built-in sections to exclude it, and use Add Custom Section for your own title and content. Custom sections can be deleted outright; the built-ins can only be excluded.

Can I get the device schedule as a spreadsheet instead of a PDF?

Yes. The Past Submittals card lists every package you have generated with its date and PDF, Excel, and CSV download buttons, alongside the manufacturer battery calc formats.

Generating a Submittal

Q: I saved a layout in the submittal builder — which layout does Generate Submittal use?

Once a project has a saved builder layout, the Generate Submittal button produces that layout instead of the default section order, so the PDF always matches what you saw in the builder. Save it under a name with the Templates dropdown to reuse it on the next job.

The submittal is the deliverable: one PDF containing the cover sheet, the calculations, the device schedule, and every device's manufacturer datasheet. It builds from the project data you already entered — no drawings required.

Generate the package

Open the project and click Generate Submittal, or use the Submittal tab.
Confirm the AHJ Profile at the top (see below).
Fill in the optional Cover Sheet Details: Custom Title, Revision (pre-filled with Rev 1), Prepared By, and Additional Notes. The Project Information card above them is read-only — it's pulled straight from the project.
Click Generate Submittal. The PDF renders and downloads. Large packages take a few seconds; if one times out, generate it again.

What's in the package

Five sections are included by default, in this order:

Cover Sheet — project name and address, system specifications, parties of record, AHJ, and whatever you entered under Cover Sheet Details.
Battery Calculation — standby amp-hours plus alarm amp-hours, multiplied by your safety factor.
Voltage Drop Calculations — per NAC circuit, using each circuit's wire gauge, length, supply voltage, and minimum device voltage.
Device Matrix — the device schedule: every device, quantity, circuit, address, and current draw.
Cut Sheets — the manufacturer datasheet for each device model, appended as full pages.

The battery calculation is also available in the panel manufacturer's own workbook format. On the Past Submittals card at the bottom of the page, use the Mfg Calc dropdown to download the Fire-Lite, Notifier, Silent Knight, or Potter version of any generated submittal. That card also keeps every past package with its generation date and PDF, Excel, and CSV downloads, plus a delete button.

Choose the AHJ profile

The AHJ Profile selector attaches the jurisdiction's own requirements to the package. If the project is linked to a customer whose jurisdiction has been resolved, the right profile is selected for you; otherwise FireDeck matches the project's typed AHJ name against your profiles. Your own pick always wins, and clearing it stays cleared.

With a profile selected you see its jurisdiction, state, contact, fire marshal address, Required Forms, Attachment Order, and any notes — so you can check the package against what that office actually asks for. Profiles are managed in the AHJ workspace, covered in AHJ & Compliance.

Include and reorder sections

Expand Customize Sections on the submittal page to change what goes in the package and in what order.

Untick a section's checkbox to leave it out.
Drag a row by its handle, or use the up and down arrows, to reorder. The order is saved as you go.
Click Add Custom Section, give it a Title and content, and it drops into the package as its own section. Custom sections are the only ones you can delete; the five built-ins can only be excluded.

Cut sheets

Open the Cut Sheets tab on the project. The Device View lists every device model in the project with its cut-sheet status, and the tab badge tells you how many are missing.

Auto-Fetch Cut Sheets downloads datasheets from the manufacturers' own sites for every device with a known URL. This also runs automatically when you generate a submittal, so a package rarely goes out with gaps — but running it beforehand lets you see what came back.
Browse Shared Library searches cut sheets other shops have uploaded. Click Import to copy one into your project.
The Upload & Manage tab takes PDFs directly: drag them onto the drop zone or click to browse. Uploaded files are listed with their size and upload date, and the link icon attaches a file to a specific device so it lands in the right place in the package.

Anything still marked Missing simply won't have a datasheet in the PDF. You can also attach a cut sheet permanently to a device in Submittals → Device Library, so it's there on every future project — see Devices & Circuits.

The submittal builder

For control over the exact layout, click Open Submittal Builder. The builder is a page-by-page canvas: drag blocks from the palette on the left into the document, or click a block to append it to the end.

Available blocks include Cover Sheet, Table of Contents (with real page numbers computed at render time), Voltage Drop, Device Matrix, Symbol Legend, Riser Diagram, a fully editable Sequence of Operations matrix, Cut Sheets, a Manufacturer Battery Calc sheet, plus free Text, Logo, Image, Spacer, and Page Break blocks. Shops using the canvas floor-plan tool also get plan and device-schedule blocks that pull live from the drawing.

Click Save to store the layout on the project, or Generate PDF to render it immediately. Once a project has a saved builder layout, the Generate Submittal button on the submittal page produces that layout instead of the default section order — so the PDF always matches what you saw in the builder.

Use the Templates dropdown to save a layout under a name and reuse it on other projects: Save as New Template, then pick it from the list on the next job.
