These terms govern your access to and use of FireDeck, the web service that generates fire alarm submittal packages. By creating an account or using the service, you accept these terms on behalf of yourself and any company you represent.
FireDeck is a design aid, not a stamp. The licensed designer or engineer of record is responsible for the final calculations, code compliance, and any seal, stamp, or signature required by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). FireDeck's output does not replace professional review. See § 05.
Acceptance & scope
By signing up for an account, accessing the FireDeck website, or using any feature of the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the “Terms”) and the Privacy Policy incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you are using FireDeck on behalf of a company, partnership, or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms, and “you” refers both to you personally and to that entity.
These Terms apply to every account, every project you create, every PDF the service generates for you, and every page on a FireDeck domain — including firedeck.app, any subdomain, and any successor domain we operate.
Defined terms
These capitalized terms have the meanings below wherever they appear.
Accounts & eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into binding contracts in your jurisdiction. The Service is offered for commercial use by fire alarm contractors, engineers, designers, and authorities having jurisdiction — not for consumer use.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Use a strong password, enable two-factor authentication when available, and notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect your account has been compromised.
You may not share login credentials. Each individual using the Service must have their own login. If you need multiple users, add team members through your workspace settings.
The service
FireDeck takes project information you enter — panels, circuits, devices, addresses, AHJ contacts — and generates a Submittal Package containing standard calculations and the embedded manufacturer cut sheets for each device you listed. The output is intended as a working draft for the Designer of Record to review, complete, and stamp.
The Service is provided over the internet. We strive for high availability but do not promise uninterrupted access. We may, without notice: (a) perform scheduled or emergency maintenance, (b) update calculation templates as manufacturers publish revised specifications, and (c) modify or discontinue features for any reason.
4.1What the Service does
- Calculates secondary power (battery) requirements using manufacturer worksheets for Fire-Lite, Notifier, Potter, and Silent Knight panels.
- Performs voltage-drop analysis on SLC, NAC, and AUX circuits using the wire gauges, lengths, and device loads you provide.
- Compiles a device matrix listing each device's manufacturer, model, quantity, standby and alarm current, and circuit assignment.
- Fetches publicly-available manufacturer cut sheets from URLs in our device library and embeds them in your Submittal Package.
4.2What the Service does not do
- It does not design fire alarm systems. You design; FireDeck calculates.
- It does not verify code compliance. NFPA 72, local amendments, and AHJ-specific rules are your responsibility.
- It does not stamp, seal, or sign documents. Only a licensed professional can do that.
- It does not communicate with the AHJ on your behalf, nor does it monitor permit status.
Professional responsibility
This section is important. Read it.
You — and only you, through the Designer of Record — are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and code-compliance of any submittal you provide to a building owner, contractor, or AHJ.
FireDeck is a calculation and document-assembly tool. Every output the Service produces is a draft for professional review. The Designer of Record must verify each value, every voltage-drop result, every battery sizing calculation, every device entry, and every embedded cut sheet revision before applying their seal, stamp, signature, or initials.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that:
- Calculation templates are based on manufacturer-published worksheets and applicable NFPA standards as we understand them on the date you generated the Submittal Package. They may not reflect the most recent revision, errata, or AHJ-specific interpretation.
- Device specifications change. Manufacturer cut sheets are fetched from publicly-available URLs; we cannot guarantee they are the revision your AHJ requires.
- Field conditions vary. Wire gauges, run lengths, and ambient temperatures you enter must match the installed system; FireDeck cannot verify them.
- Code compliance is jurisdiction-specific. Local amendments to NFPA 72, model fire codes, and authority-specific bulletins are not encoded in the Service.
If a Submittal Package generated by FireDeck contains an error, omission, or non-compliant value, the Designer of Record is responsible for catching it. You may not represent to a third party — including an AHJ, building owner, contractor, or insurer — that a FireDeck-generated document is a sealed engineering submittal, or that FireDeck performed the engineering work.
Subscriptions & billing
The Service is offered as a monthly subscription at the rate listed on the pricing page. As of the effective date above, the standard rate is $29.99 per account per month, billed in advance.
Subscriptions auto-renew on the same day of each month. We charge the payment method on file. If a charge fails, we will retry up to three times over five business days; if all attempts fail, your account is downgraded to read-only access until a valid payment method is added.
You may cancel at any time from Account → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not prorate partial months. Your projects remain accessible read-only after cancellation so you can retrieve old submittals when an AHJ asks.
Taxes are not included in listed prices. Where applicable, sales tax, VAT, or GST is added at checkout based on your billing address.
All payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store complete card numbers on our systems; see the Privacy Policy for details.
Free trial & promotional codes
New accounts may receive a 14-day free trial with full access to the Service. No credit card is required to start the trial. If you do not add a payment method by the end of the trial, your account is downgraded to read-only until you subscribe.
7.1Launch promotion — code LAUNCH
From the launch date through the date posted on the pricing page, the promotional code LAUNCH grants one month freeon a new Subscription. The credit is applied as a 100% discount on the first month's invoice. After the first month, standard pricing applies.
The launch code is valid for new accounts only, is limited to one use per account and per payment method, may not be combined with other promotions, has no cash value, and may be revoked or modified at any time. If FireDeck reasonably determines that a code has been used in bad faith — for example, by creating multiple accounts with related payment methods — we may revoke the discount and charge the standard rate retroactively.
7.2Future codes
Any promotional code, beta access grant, or referral credit we issue is governed by the specific terms posted at the time it is issued and by these Terms. Where the two conflict, the code-specific terms control for that promotion only.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate Submittal Packages you do not have a legitimate professional reason to produce.
- Misrepresent FireDeck output as sealed engineering documents to an AHJ, building owner, contractor, or insurer.
- Re-sell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without a written agreement signed by both parties.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract source code, calculation algorithms, or device-library data.
- Probe, test, or attempt to circumvent the security of the Service, including rate limits and authentication mechanisms.
- Upload malware, transmit unsolicited communications through the platform, or use the Service in violation of any applicable law.
- Impersonate another individual, contractor, or licensed professional, including by entering false license numbers or signatures.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of this section. Where we believe a violation is in good faith, we will contact you before acting where reasonably possible.
Your data & content
You retain all rights in the project information you enter (the “User Content”) — including device lists, addresses, AHJ contacts, building owner names, panel configurations, and any notes you add. We do not claim ownership.
By using the Service, you grant FireDeck a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, transmit, and display your User Content solely to provide the Service to you. This includes generating PDFs, sending them to your email if you request, and storing them on your account.
We may use aggregated, anonymized usage data (for example, “how many projects were created last month using Fire-Lite panels”) to operate, improve, and market the Service. We do not share your specific project data with third parties except as described in the Privacy Policy or required by law.
You are responsible for getting any consent required to enter information about third parties — for example, building owner names, AHJ inspector contacts, or contractor employees — into the Service.
You may export your User Content at any time via Account → Export. Deleted accounts are purged from active systems within 30 days; see the Privacy Policy for backup retention.
Intellectual property
FireDeck, the FireDeck name and logo, and the Service — including all software, calculation templates, device library, page designs, and documentation — are the property of FireDeck or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your internal professional use during your active Subscription, subject to these Terms. No other rights are granted. In particular:
- You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service.
- You may not remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notice.
- You may not use FireDeck's name or logo in marketing without our prior written consent.
If you provide feedback, feature requests, or bug reports, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that feedback to improve the Service.
Fire-Lite, Notifier, Potter, Silent Knight, and other manufacturer names referenced in the Service are trademarks of their respective owners. FireDeck is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any panel or device manufacturer.
Third-party content
FireDeck embeds manufacturer cut sheets in your Submittal Packages. We fetch these documents from publicly-available URLs maintained by the device manufacturers. Cut-sheet content — including specifications, ratings, dimensions, and any product photography — is the property of the manufacturer.
We do not modify cut sheets. We cannot guarantee that a cut sheet fetched today is the same revision your AHJ requires; manufacturers update their specifications regularly. If your AHJ requires a specific cut-sheet revision date, verify it before submitting.
If a manufacturer requests that we stop fetching a particular document, we will comply and notify any affected accounts on a best-effort basis.
The Service may link to or reference NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and other code-bodies' documents. Those documents are governed by their own copyrights and licenses; we do not redistribute them through the Service.
Termination
You may cancel your Subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, are using the Service in a way that creates risk for FireDeck or other users, or have failed to pay invoices when due.
Upon termination, your access to the Service ends. We will retain your projects in read-only mode for at least 90 days so you can retrieve historical submittals; after that, your data may be deleted in accordance with our retention schedule. You can request earlier deletion via [email protected].
The following sections survive termination: § 05 (Professional Responsibility), § 09 (Your Data — license back to you), § 10 (Intellectual Property), § 13 (Disclaimers), § 14 (Liability Cap), § 15 (Indemnification), and § 16 (Disputes).
Disclaimers
The following disclaimers are written in capital letters because the law generally requires it. They mean what they say.

FIREDECK SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY ARISING FROM A COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, FIREDECK DOES NOT WARRANT THAT (A) THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THE REQUIREMENTS OF ANY AHJ, (B) CALCULATION OUTPUTS ARE FREE OF ERRORS, (C) MANUFACTURER CUT SHEETS FETCHED BY THE SERVICE ARE THE CURRENT REVISION REQUIRED BY YOUR JURISDICTION, (D) THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR SECURE, OR (E) ANY DEFECT IN THE SERVICE WILL BE CORRECTED.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or liabilities that cannot be excluded under applicable law. In some jurisdictions, the exclusions above may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FIREDECK, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR PROJECT DELAY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — EVEN IF FIREDECK HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
FIREDECK'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU ACTUALLY PAID FIREDECK FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).
The limits in this section apply regardless of any failure of essential purpose of any limited remedy.
Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless FireDeck and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from and against any third-party claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, fine, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your User Content, or any project, submittal, or installation you produced using the Service.
- Your representation, sale, or installation of any fire alarm system to which a FireDeck-generated document relates.
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your violation of any law or the rights of any third party — including manufacturer trademark rights and AHJ-imposed obligations.
We will give you prompt notice of any claim we receive, allow you to control the defense (with counsel reasonably acceptable to us), and cooperate at your expense.
Disputes & governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service must first be raised in writing to [email protected]. The parties will attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute within thirty (30) days of notice.
If informal resolution fails, any dispute must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Sarasota County, Florida. You consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts and waive any objection based on inconvenient forum.
You may bring claims only on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, consolidated, or representative action.
Changes & contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email and post a notice at the top of this page at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
Older versions of these Terms are archived and available on request.
