Overview

Laying out a fire alarm system usually means a CAD seat, a device-spacing table, and a lot of manual dropping and measuring — then re-drawing the riser by hand when the design changes. It's slow, it lives in a separate file from your submittal, and every revision is double work.

Canvas puts the whole layout in the browser, on the same project your submittal package is built from. Trace or import the floor plan, draw walls and rooms, and let the engine auto-place smoke and heat detectors and notification appliances to NFPA 72 spacing — then check coverage, assign SLC/NAC addresses from the wiring you drew, and generate the plan sheets and riser.

Because the drawing and the submittal are one project, the devices you place become the device matrix, and the plan becomes the drawing set — no re-entry, no second file, no version drift between the plan and the paperwork.

Addressing from the wiring

Draw the SLC/NAC topology and Canvas assigns device addresses from it, so the plan and the point list agree.

Flows into the submittal

It's the same project as your submittal: placed devices feed the device matrix, and the plan produces the drawing set and riser — no re-entry.
